Anti-Consulting. Simple, Fast and Effective.

Speaking at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Erik Huggers, BBC Director of Future Media and Technology unveiled the BBC’s new plans for iPlayer, News and Sport via native iPhone Applications (already under development by Mobile IQ – an Entropy Digital client).

After several abortive attempts to upload this from Barcelona on Wednesday, I’m now finally able to post some footage from the event below. You would think that the world’s largest mobile conference designed specifically for the needs of cutting-edge mobile business professionals would have figured out a way to offer reliable WiFi…but I digress…

If you want to check out a more high-quality demo of the new BBC News App in action, head over to the BBC’s internal blog by David Madden, Executive Product Manager in the BBC Future Media and Technology Mobile Team.

Finally – stay tuned for more post-MWC commentary and updates coming soon…

As much as I honestly hate to admit it, the unveiling of Windows Phone 7 earlier today at MWC in Barcelona was…well…kinda/sorta almost impressive.

Sure the new interface is still relative miles (and given the slated release of ‘holiday season 2010′ I REALLY mean miles) behind other smartphones – namely iPhone and Android – Microsoft has finally shown the capacity to think ‘mobile’ with a radically new approach to a handset OS. Check out Engadget’s first look video below:

That said, while it looks passable, we still have a sad case of too little too late – and until we really get our hands on this thing (which I’m hoping to do tomorrow in Barcelona) – the jury is still out on whether Microsoft has any chance to regain lost market share on Apple and Google (from App Stores to Enterprise-level adoption).

Remember, for live updates from MWC (starting Tuesday evening), check out the Entropy Digital Posterous site:

Yep, it’s that time of year again.

Time to pack up all your chargers and bluetooth devices, a pair of (extremely) comfortable shoes, and a laundry list of parties and ‘meet ups’ (I always plan to meet people near the ‘Blackberry Tent’, but then again I think everyone does that)…’cause…drum roll, please…The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (aka MWC or even 3GSM if you’re old skool) is at hand !

Really, I’m not as giddy as that lead-in makes it sound…especially as I fear I can predict with near certainty the mention of the phrase “2010: The Year of Mobile Advertising” being banded about more than once (as it was in 2005, 2006, 2007, you get the idea…).

But all cynicism aside, there are a few decent things to look out for this week in Barcelona and rather than post a set of predictions as just about every other tech site has done in the past 48 hours, I will simply ask some questions – hoping a few answers will find their way back to this blog by the week’s end.

1) Will Microsoft FINALLY announce Windows Mobile 7? And if so, will we care?

2) Will the heavily promoted App Planet (the new dedicated conference space assigned to mobile application developers) be the new ‘Ringtone Zone’ of the 2010′s?

3) Will Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s keynote on Tuesday morning (presumably all Android-ed up) raise the stakes in the Android-iPhone trench war?

4) A Zune Phone? A new Blackberry Hybrid? Netbooks running Chrome OS? A Zillion-and-One HTC handsets? And what about Nokia?

All these and more – plus tapas, little sleep, and a gaggle of Mobile Network Operators babbling something about ARPU.

Yes indeed, it will be quite a week – and while ol’ Entropy Digital doesn’t arrive until Tuesday evening, I’m sure there will be plenty of midweek fun to be had. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for cool devices – and will be posting what we find via the Entropy Digital Posterous Site (and Twitter of course).

Till later this week, adios and don’t forget to tell Apple when the show starts (for some reason, I think they’ve forgotten to attend again??).
